Dioxygen
Activation by Monocopper Complexes
Novel copper-oxygen intermediates have been proposed for various
catalytic processes performed by synthetic compounds and
enzymes. We aim to prepare and characterize such species
in order to gain fundamental insights into structure, bonding,
and reactivity. In this lecture, recent results targeting
monocopper-dioxygen complexes will be discussed, with an
emphasis on the synergistic use of experiment and theory
to unravel details of electronic structure and reaction mechanisms.
