Summer Brings Many Visitors

As we hit the final stretch of our stay here we’ve all been doing lots of thinking about the past year and the year to come, what we will miss the most, what we are most looking forward to, how things might seem different when we get back, and how we have changed.

Personally, I think most of all I will miss the relaxed family time we have enjoyed this year and all the fabulous time we’ve spent with my brother and his family. That, and being able to walk, bike, or take public transportation everywhere. I am so dreading getting back in that van and back to our hectic lifestyle. And what I am most looking forward to, besides reconnecting with all our wonderful friends and our kitty, is being able to communicate easily with everyone and not constantly having to worry about how to say what I want to say.

I’ll let the rest of my family write their own thoughts on this topic in their own entries (WHICH THEY HAVE ALL PROMISED TO WRITE, hint hint….)

Meanwhile, we have been enjoying our onslaught of summer visitors, which has now come to an end. It’s amazing how many friends and family actually made it here, despite exorbitant airline prices and bad exchange rates. I guess a floor to sleep on and built-in tour guides is all the incentive needed!

In addition to entertaining and tour-guiding, biking, and, of course, lots of Biergarten-going, we have managed to fit in two more short trips to Schloss Elmau: one for a beautiful 40th birthday weekend for Keith and Regine (what a place for a party!), and three fun-filled days with the Chestler family. Bill and I also took a quick but fascinating and educational trip to Berlin.

We can’t wait to see you all!

Love,
Bonnie
