Tetrakis(tetrabutylammonium) tetrakis-[(p-cyanophenyl) trioxoarsonato]-tetratriacontaoxododecamolybdate(4-)

Crystals of the title compound, (C₁₆ H₃₆N)₄ [(p-NC-C₆H ₄As)₄Mo ₁₂O₄₆ ] or (C₁₆H ₃₆N)₄[{As(C ₇H₄N)} ₄Mo₁₂ O₄₆], were synthesized by the reaction of p-cyanophenylarsonic acid and sodium molybdate at low pH. With nitrile groups pointed into tetrahedral direc-tions, these new organically modified polyoxometallate clusters are potential building blocks in coordination networks.
