3D Ordered Macroporous Materials

Abstract        

 

This chapter reviews the research efforts that have been reported for the synthesis and applications of three-dimensionally ordered macroporous materials prepared by colloidal crystal templating methods. Numerous variations of this general templating approach have been used to prepare macroporous materials with compositions including metal oxides, metals, semiconductors, polymers, and many more. A unique combination of chemical and optical properties gives macroporous materials potential applications in diverse areas including catalysis, adsorption, sensing, battery materials, and photonic crystals.
