News:
October 10, 2008: Carly Andresen and Naveen Reddy R. have decided to work with the Douglas Group for their PhD studies. Carly earned her B.A. from College of St. Benedict / St. John's University near St. Cloud, Minnesota. Naveen earned his M.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. Katie McGarry, who worked with us over the summer, will be continuing her PhD studies with the group.
September 24, 2008: Evgeny (Eugene) Beletskiy, a first-year graduate student from Saint Petersburg State University, Russia, will be conducting his PhD studies with the Douglas Group. Eugene was a LANDO student with the Douglas Group during Summer 2007, and was one of four students to help start up the lab.
July 7, 2008: Katie McGarry, an incoming graduate student from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, will be working with the Douglas Group for the summer.
June 18, 2008: Hasan Arslan will be working with Elic Yagodkin this summer as a LANDO student.
June 4, 2008: Michael Wentzel has passed his oral preliminary exam.
May 27, 2008: Chelsea Willett, an undergraduate at Yale University, will be working with Jagan Reddy for the summer.
May 23, 2008: Jagan Reddy has passed his oral preliminary exam.
May 18, 2008: Congratulations to undergraduate students Todd Hyster and Jeff Schunk for graduating with their B.S. degrees in Chemistry. Todd will be heading to Colorado State University for graduate school and will be working with Professor Tom Rovis over the summer.
April 24, 2008: Graham Wenz and Chad Larson have received UROP (undergraduate research opportunities program) awards to conduct research during the fall of 2008. Graham will be working with Ashley Dreis during that time.
April 10, 2008: Chad Larson and Joe Ostroski have received Heisig/Gleysteen chemistry summer research funds to conduct research during the summer of 2008. Chad will continue working with the Douglas Group under Michael Wentzel's guidance, while Joe will be working with Aaron Massari.
January 20, 2008: Congratulations to undergraduate student Lindsey Musselman for graduating with her B.S. in Chemistry in December, and for her new job at General Mills.
January 8, 2008: Chad Larson and Brent Keller have joined the group as undergraduate researchers.
December 13, 2007: The Douglas Group has received their first grant award. The American Chemical Society - Petroleum Research Fund (ACS-PRF) awarded the group a starter grant type G for the C–C bond activation project. We thank the donors of the PRF for their support.
November 21, 2007: First-year graduate students Ashley Dreis and Ross Moren have joined the Douglas Group for their PhD studies.
November 8, 2007: T. Giang Hoang, a first-year graduate student, has decided to conduct his research with the Douglas Group.
October 5, 2007: Michael Wentzel, a second-year graduate student who worked on the C–C bond activation project over the summer, has decided to continue his graduate studies with the Douglas Group.
September 25, 2007: Chris and Rosalind Douglas become proud parents. John (Jack) Prabharasuth Douglas was born at 7:34 PM and is 6 lbs and 10 oz. The three of them are doing well.
September 17, 2007: Elic Yagodkin joins the Douglas Group as a post-candidacy graduate student. He will be working on a joint project in organic semiconductors with the Douglas and Frisbie Groups.
September 14, 2007: The Douglas Group welcomes Jagan Reddy, who recently graduated with his M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
September 5, 2007: Three more chemistry undergraduates will be conducting research with the Douglas Group as part of Directed Studies this fall. They are Lindsey Musselman, Jeff Schunk, and Joe Ostroski. Our summer graduate students have finished their summer research projects and graduate student orientation. We wish them luck with their future graduate work.
