Research Projects

Giant mitochondria

Characterizing the properties and roles of mixed populations of mitochondria. In particular, we aim to define the properties of giant mitochondria, which have been associated with aging, toxicity, or disease. We also continue investigating the properties of mutation-loaded mitochondria that coexist with normal mitochondria within the same cell.

Subcellular metabolism

Characterizing the subcellular metabolism and accumulation of metabolites after treatment with anti-cancer drugs

Electrokinetic theory

Developing theories that describe accurately the biophysical properties (e.g. electrophoretic mobility) of organelles
