Applying to the University of
Minnesota's Chemistry Program requires the completion of two
applications: one for the Chemistry Department and one for the
University of Minnesota Graduate School. These two applications
require their own set of documents.
Applying to the Chemical Physics
Graduate program requires the completion of the same two applications.
Transcripts from any college or university you have attended. Copies of
original transcripts will suffice.
General and Subject Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores are required
for all applicants. The Subject GRE can be taken in Chemistry or a related
discipline.
International Applicants: We will get your
TOEFL scores from the Graduate School Application.

A Personal Statement will be requested on the on-line application. You
can paste this same statement on to the department application. You do
not need to send any hard copies.
At least three but not more than four letters of recommendation. We will
get your letters from the graduate school, please do not send us hard copies.
Official transcripts from any college or university you have attended.
Official TOEFL test score for international students. You should go to http://www.Ets.org to
check for up-to-date information on test dates, test sites, etc.
An application fee ($55 domestic, $75 international students). The application
fee cannot be deferred or waived.

Your application will be reviewed as soon as all the above information is
received and you will be notified when the decision is made. The Chemistry
Department does not send acknowledgments upon receipt of applications nor
will we automatically notify applicants of missing documents. It is the
applicant's responsibility to ensure the arrival of all necessary documents
to their correct recipients.
