NOM Research

I am interested in the development and application of biological processes for the treatment of water, wastewater, and hazardous waste. I am especially interested in biological processes involving bacteria immobilized on a surface in what are called biofilms. The main goals of my research program are to enhance our understanding of biofilms in engineered and natural systems, to develop or improve treatment processes that utilize biofilms, and to develop strategies for controlling biofilm growth on surfaces when biofilms are not desired.
