Broader Impacts

The CSP will implement, facilitate and foster a wide range of educational, participation broadening, and public outreach activities. The CSP will work diligently to broaden the participation of underrepresented minority students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields by building partnerships with the Office for Diversity Outreach (ODO) at UMN and the North Star STEM Alliance (within a Louise Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program funded by the NSF). CSP educational efforts will include close involvement with the materials-based Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) programs at Minnesota. An important aspect of the Center’s mission will be public outreach aimed at educating citizenry and policy makers on the societal importance of sustainable technologies. The CSP will integrate a public policy initiative that nurtures relationships between the CSP, government, and industry by working with the Center for Science, Technology, and Public Policy at the UMN Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs (CSTPP). Broad public dissemination of CSP activities are also planned.

If you have ideas for outreach programs or public policy contact the Center for Science, Technology and Public Policy at 612-625-3032 or cstpp@umn.edu.
