Registration/Abstract
Submission Deadline is May 23, 2002.
The ability to observe, manipulate, and do measurements on single
molecules is opening new avenues to understad the fundamentals of life.
This one day symposium will showcase some of the recent findings in
this field. Join us to enjoy the multiple presentations, a poster session,
and a banquet.
The
speakers will include:
- Professor Norman Dovichi, University of Washington, Seattle "Single
Molecule Enzymology" (http://faculty.washington.edu/dovichi/)
- Dr. Julio Fernandez, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN "Protein Mechanics
Studied with Single Molecule AFM Techniques" (http://www.mayo.edu/research/people/4/4442_fernandez/)
- Professor Shuming Nie, Indiana University, Bloomington "Probing Single
Molecules in Single Living Cells" (http://www.indiana.edu/~dnadna/index.html)
- Professor Mark Williams, Northeastern University, Boston "DNA Binding
Protein Kinetics and Thermodynamics from Single Molecule Stretching
Measurements" (http://www.atsweb.neu.edu/mark/)
- Professor Dave Thomas, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities "Spectroscopic
resolution of molecular structures in contracting muscle" (http://ddt.biochem.umn.edu/)
- Professor Edgar Arriaga, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities "How
many cardiolipin molecules are there in one mitochondrion? (http://www.chem.umn.edu/groups/arriaga/)
- Professor Mike Bowser, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities TBA (http://www.chem.umn.edu/groups/bowser/)
