Chemistry Department Job Openings

Post-Doc POSITION

An enthusiastic postdoc is invited to join the research groups of Profs. Penn (Chemistry) , Tsapatsis, and McCormick (Chemical Engineering and Materials Science) to conduct studies on the nucelation and growth of zeolites under solvothermal conditions. Our groups are pursuing basic and applied research of zeolite crystal nucleation and growth and the assembly of zeolite nanocrystals into functional devices. A Ph.D. with solid background in CRYO TEM characterization and sample preparation is required. Experience with solvothermal synthesis of nanoparticles - most especially, experience with microporous materials - is highly desireable. The IT Characterization facility houses three Cryo TEMs, including a new Tecnai G2 F30 Cryo TEM, and excellent sample preparation equipment, including a vitrobot and freeze fracture instrument. The position is available immediately, and is supported by a grant from the Nanostructural Materials and Processes program, part of the Industrial Partnership for Research in Interfacial Materials Engineering. We offer competitive compensation, exciting research projects, and a dynamic interdisciplinary research environment at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities

Email applications to Sheryl Frankel (frankel@chem.umn.edu)with

  • research summary
  • a description of hands-on experience with TEM and Cryo-TEM techniques and sample preparation
