About the Conference

The fifth annual Chemistry Graduate Student Symposium is being held May 16th, 2006 in Moos Tower on the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus.  The symposium will consist of research presentations by (mostly) third-year graduate students in the Chemistry Ph.D. program. Presentations will take place in 3 concurrent sessions and be 25 minutes in length with an additional 5 minutes reserved for discussion.  All presentations will be formally assessed by a committee of faculty members and distinguished UMN Alumni guests, and travel awards of $500 will be presented to those individuals judged to have given the best seminar in each of the three sessions. Written feedback will be provided to all presenters.  Additional information about the format of the abstracts and presentations is available.

It is the intent of the faculty that full attendance by all departmental faculty and students will be a high priority. We anticipate a full day of lectures interrupted by sponsored coffee breaks and lunch.

Conference Site

The symposium will be held in Moos Tower (Rooms 2-530, 2-620, 2-650) on the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis Campus.  Moos Tower is centrally located and within walking distance from the Chemistry Department, the Radisson Metrodome Hotel and Coffman Memorial Union.
